So that's the LVDS cable that runs up the left side?
Are you sure you're pressing in the right place? The graphics chip is about 2.5' inboard of the mini VGA and headphone ports. Press there or from the bottom, same spot. The GPU is under a massive heat sink so pressure might be better from the bottom. Sometimes the bottom must come off.
Most likely logic board usually GPU.
If were in my shop I'd hook it to another iBook output.

I have tried replacing the ribbon video cable and still have a blank screen. It lights up gray, because the backlighting is on.

I tried all the shim and press here and there and nothing happens.

So do I have a bad LCD or something wrong with the logic board?
